If you want to protect desktop icons from deletion but do not want to hide
them, you can use Lock Files feature:
Open Access/Files section.
Click Browse button.
Select Desktop folder and add all *.lnk files into the blocked files list.
Select gray mark at the left of each file to allow read-only access.
