I can't se the usefullness for it. Maple will only lock you in to special a database and will not handle all files that you use.

Please tell me what I can use it for.

Maple is not a file manager and, of course it cannot handles all the files that you use. It is an outliner, a combination of word processor and document database that allows the grouping of text in sections that are organized in a tree data structure. Useful for storing practically any kind of information in one database - notes, pictures, link collections, Web pages, etc.. You don't have to create a hundreds of text files scattered on the hard disk and rummage in them for hours while searching for some necessary documents.
